Guenter Artz has done some extreme conversions in the 70s and 80s. Most famous are surely the VW Scirocco "Schiwago", a station-wagon conversion and his VW Golf 928, which was a modified Golf (Rabbit) body with pure Porsche 928 technic
But Artz also had a heart for Audis. He modified the Audi 200 Type43 to a station wagon of a different kind. The appearance of the rearlights and the rear itself let me presume that Artz was heavily inspired by the VW Passat (Quantum) Variant which was introduced in August 1980. The car cost in the well-equipped basic version 53000,- (about USD25000 today). But if someone was looking for even more exclusivity, Artz could help for an additional 30000,-. Then he would place the 200 station wagon body on the lengthened chassis of a Urquattro! 200PS and permanent all wheel probably made the "200 Variant quattro" the most exclusive Audi ever. And for Urquattro fans who did not want to lose the body of their car, Artz could come up with something else!

Similarities to the VW Passat (Quantum) Variant.
Comfortable cargo bay.
200 wagon behind VW Kaefer (Beetle) with Porsche 914/6 and 911 technic!
Sadly the picture is printed directly over the middle of the magazine. Click here for a retouched pic.
This is the table with some data on the diverse cars Artz modified. The 200 is equipped with the "standard" 200 5T engine with 170PS, so it is not the Urquattro version.
